Director, Success Enablement & Program Management

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of the Program Management Business, in this high-impact, high-visibility role, you will have a unique opportunity to define and bring to market solutions for our Success Enablement Business. In this role, you will lead a team of consultants to deliver complex, transformational solutions to enable our clients to achieve their business results.
The utility industry is undergoing a massive amount of transformation and delivering more complex projects and programs, which require a deep understanding of program and change management methodologies as well as utility business knowledge and expertise.

In this role, the Director will work with BRIDGE clients and internal resources to define the program delivery and change management methodologies required to deliver these transformational programs, including portfolio and program planning, program execution and governance, and benefits and performance management. This is a fast paced, high intensity role that will require a combination of skills and experience to be successful, some of which include: utility consulting, program and change management expertise, utility operations subject matter expertise, technology integration, effective writing and speaking skills, attention to detail and quality, and operating as a team player. This is a hands-on position where you will be expected to lead and/or assist on client engagements to ensure our solutions are successfully delivered and clients receive the business results they seek.

Success in this role requires a well-rounded background in utility consulting, project management, systems integration and utility business processes and operations (IT, Transmission & Distribution, Network Operations, etc.). The ideal candidate excels at effectively managing senior project leaders and has a track record of successfully delivering complex programs. In addition, the ideal candidate must be a highly effective business leader, capable of extensive collaboration and employee development, experienced in managing consulting staff in engagements across multiple sections of the energy and utility Industry and demonstrate the ability to provide business and industry thought leadership related to consulting methodology and services.

In addition to executive planning, execution, control and monitoring of client projects and consulting services engagements, this individual will have demonstrated leadership competencies in team building, client relations, negotiation, decision making, problem-solving and conflict management. The qualified candidate will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Solution Development

  • Actively support the company strategic direction, definition of solutions, services and products, and go-to-market strategies related to program management
  • Develop and mature BRIDGE’s program Management capabilities
  • Develop and maintain leadership on industry direction, business capabilities, and executive perspectives on program planning, program execution/management, and change management
  • Support and further develop the BRIDGE brand by providing ‘thought leadership’, including presenting at industry conferences, developing white papers, and attending standards development committees and workgroups
  • Collaborate with partners and our other Businesses to define technology solutions, software accelerators, and software products
  • Collaborate with Marketing in the definition of go-to-market strategies

Project/Engagement Management

  • Oversight and management of assigned engagements
  • Review and track project deliverables, resources, and client satisfaction, acting as a player/coach to team members
  • Maintain contact and communication with all project team members and other participants to ensure the services provided by BRIDGE conform to what has been contractually agreed upon and meet client expectations
  • Participate in resource planning, and address resource performance issues as they relate to client projects and internal assignments

Consulting Staff Management

  • Management of a team of consultants, providing leadership, guidance, training, coaching, disciplinary action, reward recognition, quarterly MBO planning, and evaluation and annual reviews for direct reports
  • Actively participate in the operational leadership of BRIDGE
  • Manage utilization for assigned resources
  • Assist with the recruitment and qualification of new consulting team members to provide sustained quality growth
  • Provide and oversee the mentoring of new hires and provide long-term career planning for all consulting resources on their team

Business Development and Client Revenue Growth

  • Support sales in developing solutions for clients, including leading the development of proposals, estimates, delivery schedules, and statement of work development
  • Partner with others in the organization to deliver on account targets for profitable expansion opportunities
  • Support new business development (i.e., pre-sales calls, project scope definition, RFP responses, statement of work development, resource planning, budget estimating (top-down and bottom-up) and solution estimation
  • Client satisfaction management
  • Develop solid, trusted relationships with client managers and executives
  • Meet with client executives and managers regularly to gauge client satisfaction (relative to BRIDGE resources) and engagement quality management
  • Leverage trusted client relationships and existing projects to introduce BRIDGE into new areas of the client business across practice services and product offerings
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate client needs on an ongoing basis

Skills, Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science-related field, MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of project/program management experience in a rapid-paced consulting and services organization managing consulting engagements
  • 7+ years in consulting in a services delivery company
  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue within an existing account
  • Experience developing and delivering utility practice offerings for a consulting company and/or vendor
  • Demonstrated leadership managing a team of senior consulting resources serving the utility/energy space
  • Well-developed consultancy skills and ability to coach a matrixed team of consultants at various skill levels
  • Ability and experience leading workshops with a diverse set of stakeholders to gain consensus and drive solutions
  • Experience developing and implementing consulting methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience with project management practices and techniques at the level of PMI Certification. Candidates with PMP certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (i.e. Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.), methodologies and practices to effectively deliver within cost, schedule and quality baselines
  • Proven ability to estimate, develop project timelines, gain client approval, project leadership, and present solutions to client
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of how to build and leverage strong business relationships
  • Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Deep familiarity with an end-to-end technology implementation methodology
  • Must have a passion for customer satisfaction and demonstrated ability to manage customer’s needs and expectations
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer relation/communication skills
  • Overnight travel to client site when required and depending on the engagement may require up to 75% travel

Domain Expertise Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience consulting or working within the business/transmission and distribution operations of a utility
  • 10+ years of utility and/or related utility technology experience
  • Experience working within the business/transmission and distribution operations of a utility
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, management, and deployment of technology projects related to new application deployment and integration of utility systems in various utility/energy focused initiatives
