Program Manager

Position Overview

The Program Manager (PM) is a senior delivery position reporting to the VP of Delivery and is focused on successfully managing and delivering large-scale, complex grid modernization programs on time, on budget and with a high level of client satisfaction. The Program Manager must have extensive knowledge and experience leveraging program management methodologies and processes to effectively manage a Program Management Office (PMO) and team. This individual will partner with clients, vendors and other BRIDGE employees to build trusted relationships and deliver successful outcomes.

The ideal candidate excels at leading project teams to deliver best-of-breed solutions to BRIDGE clients. The individual will have solid project/program/product management and technical leadership skills and experience managing engagements across multiple sections of the energy and utility industry. In addition to planning, execution, control and monitoring of a project, this individual will have leadership competencies for team building, client relations, negotiation, decision making, problem-solving and conflict management. Qualified candidate will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Direct and monitor all activities for highly complex programs from initiation to delivery inclusive of strategy and planning, vendor systems procurement, architecture and design, systems development & integration, vendor management, testing and acceptance
  • Lead Program Management Office for client projects, including developing, managing and enhancing program governance model and procedures for performance management and program change, issues and risk management
  • Act as a liaison between departments and stakeholders within the organization
  • Engage and consult with stakeholders to ensure business needs are being met
  • Provide consistent and comprehensive status reporting, executive-level dashboards, project updates, ongoing cost analyses, significant issue management/resolution and communication at project and executive levels
  • Develop and manage an integrated program-level schedule, encompassing a large number of workstreams and projects that cut across multiple departments and stakeholders within the utility
  • Oversee and manage performance management, including budget, schedule, forecasting, resources and reporting
  • Lead structured risk and issues management planning, tracking, control and escalation/reporting; analyze issues and risks in terms of impact to schedule and budget and identify and execute upon mitigation plans
  • Manage escalation of risks and issues; hold program sponsor(s) and individual team members accountable to effectively manage issues based on priority and impact
  • Ensure all deliverables and activities required to meet the program scope and objectives are identified and documented and comply with expectations
  • Manage the delivery of the services against agreed schedule, quality, scope, budget and defined deliverables
  • Lead quality management for the program, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction
  • Provide direction and mentoring to team members
  • Contribute to the development of BRIDGE best practices and delivery methodology to institutionalize best practices, work product templates and delivery processes for future reuse
  • Partner with sales and COEs to develop and manage Strategic Account Plans, focused on increasing revenue within our existing client base and delivering additional value through the BRIDGE’s offerings
  • Identify client needs, support the development of proposals, develop statements of work and manage onboarding of new team members

Skills, Experience & Education Requirements

  • BS or BA in Business required, MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of program management experience in a rapidly-paced consulting, services and complex systems integration environment, Big 4 experience preferred
  • 15+ years in consulting/services delivery roles
  • Knowledge and experience with project management practices and techniques at the level of PMI Certification. Candidates with PMP preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working with electric utilities, preference working on grid modernization projects
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage project delivery in a large, multi-team environment for programs over $50 million
  • Understanding of financial reporting within a utility, including capital budgeting and regulatory reporting
  • Knowledge of project management tools (i.e. Microsoft Project), methodologies and practices to effectively deliver within cost, schedule and quality baselines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong executive presence and proven ability to consult at all levels in a utility organization
  • Understanding of how to build and leverage strong business relationships
  • Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Must have a passion for customer satisfaction and have the ability to manage customer’s needs and expectations
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer relation/communication skills

Domain Expertise Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with Transmission and/or Distribution utilities
  • Previous experience working on Grid Modernization projects encompassing IT and T&D
